ggodsmuls-Good point about the mayor's Racine house. However, it's fair to point out that a nice Racine house would be taxed at a mill rate 4 times that of nearby Wind Point. This explains why its so hard to sell some of the great houses on Michigan Blvd in the city.

Ordmm-thanks for t…

Take Hwy 20 from the lake to I-94 and you will find it takes about 25 minutes to get there after going though about 28 stoplights. Give credit to County Exec Delagrave for working to address the interstate access issue. Prior execs did not act on the issue even though they were aware of it.

While that is true, it was Caledonia's "leadership" that turned down the much needed, already funded project to modernize 38. I wonder how some of them can sleep with all of the serious accidents on that highway.

Hi ordmm-We can thank many of the horse people in Caledonia for the lack of modern interstate access on the north side. They refused the money from the state to upgrade the very dangerous Hwy 38 into a modern four lane highway. Back in 1992, they shut down plans to bring 794 all the way so…

No, it was not. The original plan from DOT was to only widen KR east from I-94 to 90th St. It made no sense as workers from the city will need to get there as well and traffic will greatly increase on KR once Foxconn opens. It is needed, unless you want downtown Racine to continue to die due…

Widening KR has been a part of county plans since at least 1986 and will help with access to downtown Racine from the south. The county needs to address the lack of even one 4 lane highway out to I-94 on the north side of the county. Metro Milwaukee is ten times the size of Kenosha. No one c…

Target is still left in the city. They sued the city for being over-assessed on their property taxes over a number of years. Today, they are not being assessed too high.
I would still be concerned about Target's future here since they have not built on to add a full grocery section li…

You are all welcome. I'm trying to make people aware why no new businesses are coming to Racine and what must be done to change that. Like everyone else, I am tired of going out of town to buy certain items or to try a new restaurant. Our city is not sustainable if we don't have a variety o…

Mayor Cory Mason, take a look at these assessments and taxes: Racine Shopko $6.4 million assessment, 100,100 square feet, property taxes $187,138. Kenosha Shopko $3.5 million assessment, 98,488 square feet, property taxes $88,759. Racine needs to cut it's pork filled budget and review these…

You can't compare Drexel Town Square to anything in Racine since Oak Creek's property tax mill rate is half that of Racine's. There has been plenty of development by the mall, it has just taken place in Mt Pleasant, where a business can turn a profit and not be gouged by the city of Racine. …
