The final score didn’t tell the whole story.

While the Angels lost to Waukesha Catholic Memorial 4-0 at SCORe, St. Catherine’s coach Ben Lake felt his team played well and did some positive things.

“We played them tough,’’ Lake said. “They scored three phenomenal goals.’’

Catholic Memorial, which is the top-ranked Division 2 teaml in the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association state poll, led only 1-0 after the first half.

Said Lake: “They (Catholic Memorial) weren’t a happy bunch. We played really well.’’

Catholic Memorial added its second goal in the 50th minute before pulling away for the victory.

Lake said the Angels’ defense was excellent for most of the match.

“I was happy with the way we collapsed on spaces and played tight,’’ Lake said. “Whenever they were receiving the ball, we were right there.’’

With the loss, St. Catherine’s, which is ranked third in the WSCA Division 4 state poll, fell to 12-2-6 overall.
