Someone finally cooled off the streaking Racine Lutheran-Prairie high school baseball team.

The LPs had won 13 of their last 15 games, but ran into a buzzsaw in No. 1 seeded Jefferson Wednesday, losing a WIAA Division 2 regional semifinal 5-1 at Jefferson.

“I don’t think many people gave us a shot to last seven innings against the No. 1 ranked team in Division 2, but these guys battled,” said LPs coach Bob Mallwitz. “We had a heck of a run this year. It just wasn’t our day today.”

Lutheran-Prairie (15-8) started the season 2-5, but got hot and almost earned a share of the Metro Classic Conference championship.

Against Jefferson, junior Tucker Maris drove in the only run with a single in the fourth inning. Freshman Trey Eckert went 2 for 2.
