The Carthage College women’s volleyball team split its two matches Saturday at the Ground Round Sugar Loaf Classic at Winona, Minn., beating Luther College 3-1, but losing 3-2 to Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota.
In the Lady Reds’ 25-23, 24-26, 25-11, 25-19 victory over the Norse, Megan Behrendt had a team-high 14 kills and former St. Catherine’s High School standout Ellie LeCount had a team-high 22 assists, four aces and 10 digs. Luci Krenzke of Racine, who graduated from Greenfield High School, had a team-high 21 digs.
In the 10-25, 25-16, 15-25, 25-21, 15-7 loss to St. Mary’s, LeCount had a team-high 24 assists and two aces, Krenzke led with 21 digs and Behrendt had 16 kills for Carthage (2-1).
PARKSIDE: The Rangers split their two matches at the Wayne State Tournament at Detroit, losing 3-0 to Wayne State and beating Ohio Dominican 3-1.
In the victory over Ohio Dominican, Leah Fenske had 15 kills, Horlick High School graduate Katie Adams had 36 assists and Annie Leo had 21 digs to lead the Rangers.
Against Wayne State, Rachel Hedman had 11 kills, Adams had 30 assists and Leo had 13 digs for Parkside (1-3).
CARTHAGE: The Lady Reds lost 3-0 to the University of Dubuque in their road opener.
Dubuque scored in the 80th minute and held on for the win.
Emily Furmanek made two saves in goal for Carthage (1-1).
PARKSIDE: Minnesota State-Mankato outshot Parkside 27-6 and beat the Rangers 2-0 at Mankato, Minn.
Adrianna Bratel made 12 saves in goal for Parkside (0-2-0).
