Madie Kaelber’s exceptional game wasn’t enough for the Carthage College women’s baketball team on Sunday.
Kaelber scored 33 points, a career high, in the Lady Reds’ 96-90 double-overtime loss to the University of Chicago at Chicago.
Kaelber connected on 14 of 25 shots from the field as the Lady Reds suffered their first loss in four games this season. Chicago improved to 3-2.
Kaelber scored 27 of her points in the second half and two overtimes.
The game was tied at 82-82 at the end of regulation and 88-88 after the first overtime.
Morgan Harris contributed 16 points and 10 rebounds for Carthage. Teammate Bailey Gilbert added 14 points, all coming in the first half.
Taylor Lake led the Maroons with 26 points. Olariche Obi grabbed a game-high 18 rebounds.
