STURTEVANT — The Racine Symphony Orchestra's first Summer Pops concert of its 90th season will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 25, at Fountain Banquet Hall, 8505 Durand Ave. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Guest conductor will be Robert Tomaro, music director of the Beloit Janesville Symphony and previously music director of the Elysian Symphony Orchestra. A graduate of Northwestern University and New York University, Tomaro received a master's degree and a PhD in composition while serving as music director of the New York University Orchestra. He subsequently served on the faculties of St. John University in New York and Rutgers University in New Jersey. Tomaro is a professor of Music at Beloit College, where he holds the Shogren Family Conducting Chair.
Guest artists are Joe Ketchum on the violin and Thomas Aquino on guitar.
The program will include some country, bluegrass and feature Dvorak's "Symphony No. 9."
