I want to thank the Root River Council for hosting another wonderful Root River Festival celebrating our community’s natural resources (this year, Lincoln Park) and, as in an all years, our river.
Council president Jim Chambers description of this park as a "hidden gem" (Celebrating the River, Out and About, Aug. 24, page 2) was spot on. Like most, I regularly drive by along Spring Street not appreciating the beauty that lies just to the north. No more.
The best part of the festival was seeing so many members of our community coming together to learn through the various educational presentations and the many nonprofit and community oriented groups with their tent displays, be entertained by the range of musical performers, and celebrate our beautiful natural resources. Congratulations to the Root River Council for a job well done.
