Gov. Walker has indicated that in the coming week, he will sign the bill that dismantles the Government Accountability Board (GAB), the agency that oversees our campaign finance, elections, ethics and lobbying laws. Most of the reasons that were given by the authors of this bill have been effectively refuted. Other allegations are being blown way out of proportion.

The GAB has provided convincing rebuttals at www.gab.wi.gov/publications/testimony/ab389-sb295-supplemental.

As an example, the authors alleged that the GAB did not perform audits of the voting machines. This has been disproven with detailed documentation. You can view the documentation at www.fairelectionswi.com/audits/audits.htm.

Another claim by the governor about the recall petitions has been ruled false by Politifact. (www.politifact.com/wisconsin/statements/2015/oct/16/scott-walker/gov-scott-walker-says-board-wanted-accept-mickey-m/).

While the governor may claim that the GAB has to be extinguished because they were not doing their job, the real reason may be that they were doing their job too well.
