Feest, Otwaska and Hansen should be ashamed of themselves for failing to seat John Kis as trustee. The voters sent a clear message on April 4 that they no longer wanted the apparent Kelly Gallagher-backed gang of Garski, Feest, Otwaska and Hansen running this village. Unbelievably, Feest has now publicly stated he is happy to continue a 3-3 stalemate, unless the issue is something he wants, basically holding the village hostage to his wishes alone. This is incredulous, unethical and thwarts the will of Village residents.
Kis is a longtime village resident, highly recognized community leader, recipient of the prestigious Sam Johnson award this year and currently sits on the Plan Commission. There is no logical objection to seating Kis as a trustee. Hansen’s statement that bankers do not sit on village boards is absolutely false, as they sit on boards throughout Wisconsin. As to any conflict of interest, Kis already sits on the Plan Commission where the same conflict of interest would arise. As he indicated, he would simply abstain when appropriate.
It's time this village stands up for ethical government so we can grow and encourage economic development. But as long as Feest, Otwaska and Hansen disrupt our Village Board, this development will not come to Mount Pleasant. I encourage them to approve John Kis as the seventh member of the Mount Pleasant Village Board.
