Who benefits from tax cuts? I sent this email to Congressman Ryan this morning:
As a grandmother of two (wonderful girls ages 4 and 2), I look at the tax "plan" the president is proposing and shudder. I see big breaks for him personally and generations of his family (elimination of the AMT and the estate tax), as well as the many wealthy people now serving in his administration. For my granddaughters, I see an even larger deficit that future lawmakers will probably attempt to chip away at by gutting Social Security, government health programs, the arts and medical research — exactly what is being discussed now.
Republicans like you, Congressman Ryan, have been preaching deficit reduction for years and years and years. Please demonstrate some spine and refuse to accept this ridiculous "plan." A president who is unwilling to show the American people his tax returns and then proposes massive tax cuts that will largely benefit corporations and the richest among the American people must be hiding something. There is no other conclusion to draw.
