A 65-year-old woman was in stable condition Thursday after a two-vehicle crash in the 8500 block of 39th Avenue Wednesday night.

The crash occurred shortly before 6:44 p.m. in the intersection of 85th Street and 39th Avenue.

Lt. James Beller said the woman was driving north on 39th Avenue and a 16-year-old boy was headed south. At the intersection, the teen attempted to turn east onto 85th and struck the woman’s vehicle in the intersection.

The woman’s vehicle then went off the road and struck a traffic light.

She appeared to have serious head injuries and a leg injury.

Here are the Fave Five stories of Kenosha News reporter Terry Flores.

A Flight for Life helicopter landed at the Kenosha County Job Center, 8600 Sheridan Road, taking the woman to Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa.

The 16-year-old was not injured.

“The cars looked pretty mangled,” Lt. Patrick Patton of the Kenosha Police Department said Wednesday night.

Police officers remained on the scene at least three hours, and the Wisconsin State Patrol was assisting with the investigation.

Beller said the crash was still under investigation Thursday.

Pleasant Prairie Police officers worked traffic control at the scene.
