The Elmwood Park Village Board has set dates for the upcoming election to recall Village President Audrey Viau.
Local residents angry over Viau’s handling of the Walmart proposal submitted signatures to hold an election to recall Viau last month.
So far, two candidates have said they plan to challenge Viau: current Trustee Dave Cattoi and former Trustee Tom Mills.

On Thursday, the Village Board voted to set a primary date of Sept. 18 and a general election date of Oct. 16
If both men collect the necessary number of signatures to get on the ballot — Viau does not have to collect signatures — the village will have to hold a primary as well as a general election for the seat.
Should there be a primary only, the top two vote-getters in the election will move on to the general election.
If there ends up not being a need for a primary, the general election for the recall will be held on Sept. 18.
