RACINE — Less than 24 hours after battling a blaze that engulfed a car in the parking lot of the Save-A-Lot grocery store, 1500 State St., Racine firefighters were back on the roadway putting out another car fire.

According to a press release issued late Saturday by the Racine Fire Department, firefighters were called to the 300 block of State Street just before 8 a.m. Saturday by a passerby who saw smoke filling the passenger compartment of a vehicle. The vehicle’s owner was on scene, but was not injured, the release states.

The fire, which was isolated to the vehicle and its contents, according to the release, was quickly extinguished. Estimated loss was about $2,000. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
