STURTEVANT — Gateway Technical College and WRTP/BIG STEP are scheduled to hold an open house from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, at the SC Johnson Integrated Manufacturing and Engineering Technology Center, 2320 Renaissance Blvd., for those interesting in enrolling in a newly created road building training program.

WRTP stands for Wisconsin Regional Training Partnership.

The intense 20-day program is scheduled to be held 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays June 11 through July 3 at no charge to those who are accepted into the TrANS+ program. Students who complete the program also earn seven Gateway Technical College credits, which can be used toward earning an entire Gateway Civil Engineering Technology Highway Technology degree.

TrANS+ represents an initiative between WTRP/BIG STEP and Gateway Technical College where three core classes from the Civil Engineering Technology program are incorporated with the training from WTRP/BIG STEP’s TrANS program.
