Although public-private partnerships are not uncommon, the lawsuit says the grant constitutes an impermissible public-private partnership. The plaintiffs are claiming the donors have progressive leanings and point out that cities chosen to receive funding show "high rates of progressive voters."

Should the process of drawing voting district maps be taken out of the hands of partisan elected officials and have that job be given to nonpartisan state staff? Voters in Racine County will not be able to weigh in on that question directly this fall. A resolution that would have put a nonbinding referendum on the Nov. 3 ballot was failed to pass the Racine County Board Tuesday evening by a vote of 11-8.

Thanks to "an overwhelming slew of applications," the Village of Caledonia will be one of the Wisconsin municipalities that actually has enough poll workers to manage Tuesday’s primary election on its own. The village won’t need the National Guard to help, unlike so many other municipalities across Wisconsin who have seen large shortages of staffing as poll workers choose not to work this year in order to avoid the novel coronavirus.
