BURLINGTON — A Dover man was taken to Froedtert Hospital Wednesday after he reportedly shot himself in the foot in a hunting accident, according to the Racine County Sheriff’s Office.
At 3:42 p.m. on Wednesday, Racine County dispatchers were advised there was a patient at the Aurora Memorial Hospital of Burlington with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the foot, according to a news release issued late Wednesday.
Racine County Sheriff’s deputies, investigators and Department of Natural Resources wardens responded to investigate the incident, according to the release from the Sheriff’s Office.
The preliminary investigation shows the injury was a result of a hunting accident, according to the release.
The patient, a 69-year-old man from Dover, was transported from Aurora Memorial Hospital of Burlington, 252 McHenry St., to Froedtert Hospital in Wauwautosa for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The release did not indicate when or where the accident took place.
