RACINE — Racine Symphony Orchestra invites the public to attend the young artists’ competition and concerts for fifth-grade student performances beginning at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, at First Presbyterian Church, 716 College Ave.
With the application deadline closed, the Racine Symphony Orchestra announced a musically diverse group of competitors for the 2015 young artists’ competition. The Young Artists’ Competition will showcase the most talented high school instrumental music students. The top three finishers will receive a total of nearly $2,000 in scholarship cash. In addition, the top finisher will be invited to perform an encore of their solo piece with the orchestra at the Masterworks concert, “A Composition in Time,” on April 25.
This Young Artists’ Competition and associated scholarships are made possible by the support of The Racine Founders Rotary Foundation, Kiwanis Club of West Racine and Woodman’s Markets.
The concerts for fifth-grade students, “Compose Yourself!”, is sponsored by Educators Credit Union.
This highly interactive concert experience will include creation of a unique composition by the audience, which will be played at the end of the program.
Concerts will be held at 9:15 and 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, March 17, at Grace Church, 3626 Highway 31. Both concerts for fifth-grade students are free.
