RACINE — Julian Thomas Community Elementary School officially opened its doors as a community school on Thursday.

In partnership with United Way of Racine County, Julian Thomas is the second community school in RUSD. A community school focuses on academics, health and social services, youth and community development and community engagement and works to bring together many partners to offer a range of supports to children, their families and the community.

On Thursday, Principal Anisa Diaz shared her excitement: “We want our families to be engaged in their child’s learning. Engagement leads to improved student learning, stronger families and healthier communities.”
