WIND LAKE — A gymnastics center owner and coach was arrested Tuesday for reportedly recording juveniles as they changed at his Wind Lake facility.

On Wednesday, the Town of Norway Police Department, which patrols Wind Lake, received a call from an employee at Wind Lake Gymnastics Center, 7923 S. Loomis Road, who reported that a hidden camera was found in the bathroom, according to a Racine County Sheriff’s Office release.

The Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau executed a search warrant at Wind Lake Gymnastics. During the search, multiple surveillance cameras and computers were seized as evidence. A search of the computers recovered at Wind Lake Gymnastics Center revealed multiple images of child pornography, sheriff’s officials reported.

The owner and coach of Wind Lake Gymnastics Center was identified as 49-year-old James Kivisto. He has owned and operated Wind Lake Gymnastics Center for about 11 years, sheriff’s officials said. Kivisto has also coached gymnastics since 1987 in both Racine and Milwaukee counties.

According to officials, Kivisto allegedly admitted recording juveniles while they were changing in the bathroom at the center on multiple occasions.

Kivisto is in custody at the Racine County Jail and is being held on multiple counts of possession of child pornography. The release stated that as the investigation progresses, additional charges will be recommended to the Racine County District Attorney’s Office.

The investigation is ongoing, and the Racine County Sheriff’s Office stated that the process of conducting forensic searches on computers is labor intensive.

Those with information about Kivisto may contact the Racine County Sheriff’s Office at 262-636-3990. The Sheriff’s Office established this number specifically for information referencing this case.

Those with a child who attends Wind Lake Gymnastics Center are encouraged to call and speak with an investigator.

Racine County Sheriff Christopher Schmaling has scheduled a press conference about the investigation for noon on Thursday at the Sheriff’s Patrol Station, 14116 Washington Ave., Yorkville.
