RACINE — A Racine teen is facing multiple charges for allegedly kicking in a woman’s door and smashing her television, mirror and laptop.
James A. Collins, 17, of the 800 block of Villa Street, is charged with four misdemeanor counts of criminal damage to property and one count of disorderly conduct.
According to the criminal complaint:
On Thursday, Collins reportedly showed up drunk to the woman’s residence on the 900 block of Grand Avenue. When the woman asked him to leave, he began yelling and swearing while the woman’s 8-year-old child was present.
The woman left her residence to get away from Collins and came back to find her TV and laptop smashed. She went to her bedroom and heard Collins come back in the house, still screaming and swearing.
Collins allegedly punched a standing mirror in the woman’s living room. She then called the police and Collins left. The woman also noticed her door frame was damaged and part of the lock was ripped from the wall.
Police responded and located Collins, who admitted to breaking the mirror and kicking in the door, but claimed the woman also damaged some items.
Collins made an initial court appearance Friday, during which a signature bond was set at $2,000, online records show. His pre-trial conference is scheduled for Aug. 2. He remained in custody as of Friday night.
