CALEDONIA — After allegedly threatening to stab a George Webb Restaurant customer with a fork and dumping drinks in the customer’s lap, a 37-year-old Racine man was charged with disorderly conduct with use of a dangerous weapon.

Benjamin Crenshaw made his initial court appearance Monday and faces up to nine months in prison in connection with the incident, which took place at about 3 a.m. on April 18.

According to a criminal complaint, Crenshaw was part of a group speaking loudly, using profane language and making derogatory comments about women after entering the restaurant, 4555 Douglas Ave.

A customer reportedly took offense and asked them not to talk like that.

One of the men in the group responded by throwing a creamer package at the customer, missing the customer and hitting the wall, according to the complaint.

Crenshaw then got up, shoved drinks in the customer’s lap and tried to provoke the customer to fight, saying he would stab the customer with a fork if they got into a fight, the complaint states.

Crenshaw reportedly backed away after he was told police were called to the restaurant, though another member of his group knocked over more drinks before leaving.

Crenshaw’s next court appearance, a pre-trial conference, is set for June 18. He was also in court Monday on unrelated retail theft charges, according to court records.
