KENOSHA COUNTY — Four people have been arrested for their reported involvement in a recent string of thefts from vehicles, the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department announced on Thursday.
About 35 reports were taken between June 21 and July 5 regarding unlocked vehicles that had been entered and had items removed. The thefts were primarily reported in the Salem Lakes area in western Kenosha County.
On July 5, a search warrant was served in the 5000 block of 17th Avenue in the City of Kenosha, which resulted in the recovery of some stolen property, as well as evidence linking the suspects to the crimes, sheriff’s officials said.
The investigation has resulted in the clearance of 29 individual cases and the arrest of four individuals. The suspects and their charges are:
- Gary Lee Brown, 46, eight felony counts of misappropriation of personal identifying materials and 29 misdemeanor counts of theft
- Nicholas D. Babcock, 47, nine counts of misdemeanor theft, and misdemeanor counts of receiving stolen property and bail jumping.
- Daniel D. Celkis, 33, 29 counts of misdemeanor theft
- Abigail K. Lipka-Bares, 27, two misdemeanor counts of receiving stolen property
The place of residence of the suspects was not released.
Sheriff’s Department officials said that a lot of hard work went into the investigation and used the announcement of the arrests to remind residents to take precautions and lock the doors to their property.
