WIND LAKE — The Racine County Sheriff’s Office on Monday released the name of the 57-year-old man who went missing Saturday afternoon in Wind Lake in the Town of Norway.
Dennis A. Flemion was boating with family and friends when he went for a swim and did not resurface.
A search and rescue effort began Saturday evening but was called off when it became too dark. The search continued during daylight hours Sunday as a body recovery effort, according to Wind Lake Fire Department Chief Rob Robins. About 50 rescue personnel were at Wind Lake Sunday for the search, which utilized sonar, a special underwater video camera and dive teams, Robins said.
Those efforts continued on Monday, but as of 4:30 p.m. the victim’s body had not been recovered.
Robins said Sunday that visibility and windy conditions have complicated the search. Flemion also went missing in the deepest part of Wind Lake, where depths range from 25 feet to 40 feet.
