CALEDONIA — A Caledonia man has been charged with theft and drug charges after allegedly getting drunk and breaking into his neighbor’s car to steal a fidget spinner, body spray and other personal items including prescription medication.
Connor Jurena, 18, of the 4800 block of Charles Street, was charged Thursday with two counts of theft, possession of controlled substance, two counts of possession of an illegally obtained prescription and possession of drug paraphernalia, all misdemeanors.
According to the criminal complaint:
Caledonia police were called about the burglary that occurred between 11 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. Thursday. The victims told police they found their car door open and their neighbor, identified as Jurena, admitted to stealing things from their car.
After speaking to Jurena, police said he told them he stole the items when he was “black out drunk” and doesn’t remember much of what happened but said he woke up with things that didn’t belong to him. The items included a blue fidget spinner, American Eagle body spray, flip flops, Nike shoes, a smoking device, two bottles of alcohol and prescription medication including a narcotic that belonged to the victims.

Officers also located a glass pipe with marijuana residue in Jurena’s possession.
Although the officer said Jurena couldn’t remember the car he allegedly broke into, he does remember, “When he found the pills he thought to himself ‘Oh, dude pills’ and took them.”
Jurena appeared in court on Thursday and a $5,000 signature bond was set for him. As a condition of his bond, he may not have any contact with the victims and cannot consume or possess any alcohol or controlled substances. A pre-trial conference is set for Sept. 14 at 3:15 p.m.
