MOUNT PLEASANT — The cause of death for the 49-year-old woman who died in a house fire on Durand Avenue on July 1 was released Friday.
Lori Lynn Liesner was found dead in her home in the 6800 block of Durand by South Shore firefighters, who were called to the fire just after 11 p.m. that Friday night.
Racine County Medical Examiner Michael Payne said Friday that the cause of Liesner’s death is thermal injuries and smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire that occurred in Liesner’s living room was unable to be definitively determined after an investigation by the South Shore Fire Department, Mount Pleasant Police, and the Racine County Fire Investigation Task Force was completed Tuesday.
South Shore Fire Lt. Ed Lockhart said earlier this week that the cause will remain undetermined unless investigators receive further information because there were multiple possibilities as to how the fire might have started. Lockhart said there is “nothing leading (them) to believe (the fire) was started intentionally.”
Funeral services for Liesner are scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday at Maresh-Meredith and Acklam Funeral Home, 803 Main St., Racine. A visitation will take place prior to the service starting at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
