Who knows where Dr. Brian Trautman would be if he had skated through his college hockey career unscathed?
After injuring his back playing goalie, Trautman tried everything to relieve the pain. Complete relief finally came from a chiropractor, and that inspired his career choice.
"In a roundabout direction, my love for hockey created a bigger dream," his website profile says. "Thankfully, chiropractic chose me to be on their team."
He started Mount Pleasant Chiropractic and Rehab in 2004, and his patients cover the spectrum from newborns to near-centenarians. Many prefer the holistic care approach to medication, he said.
Trautman specializes in the Thompson Technique, which he said provides "light, gentle and specific" therapy to address interference in the nervous system. He's also a proponent of functional rehabilitation.
"It's easier to try to stay well than to get well," he said.
