STURTEVANT — A poker run and fundraiser for the Alternating Hemiplegia of Childhood Foundation will be held Saturday, Aug. 17, at Hiawatha Bar & Grill, 9809 Durand Ave.

Registration for the poker run begins at 10 a.m. and the cost is $20.

The fundraiser from 4 to 9 p.m. features food, a comedy show and a DJ provided by Legend Sound. A raffle will also be held with prizes including a 2018 Wolf 50cc scooter and kayak. Raffle tickets cost $2 each or six for $10.

There is no admission fee; donations will be accepted.

The fundraiser is also being held to bring awareness of AHC, a rare neurological disorder in which repeated, transient attacks of hemiplegia (paralysis of a portion of the body, including the face) occur, usually affecting one side of the body or the other, or both sides of the body at once.
