The Mears Brothers, a former Racine band, is scheduled to present the Songwriters Showcase on Sunday, May 27, and bring about 14 songwriters from Nashville, Tenn., and five other states to Route 20 in Yorkville.

YORKVILLE — A fundraiser for the James A. Peterson Veterans Village in Racine, also known as the tiny home village for veterans, is scheduled to take place from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 27, at Route 20, 14001 Washington Ave.

The Mears Brothers, a former Racine band, will present the Songwriters Showcase and bring about 14 songwriters from Nashville, Tenn., and five other states to Route 20 to perform their original songs and tell the stories behind them.

The Mears Brothers have written songs for television shows such as “True Blood,” “Young Sheldon,” “Sons of Anarchy” and “Rocky Mountain Bounty Hunters,” as well as writing for the soundtracks of films like the Vin Diesel/Steve Martin feature “Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk” and the Kevin Bacon film, “Cop Car.” They are to be joined on stage by songwriters Tyson Allison, Liza Day, Alyssia Dominguez, Scott Hamilton, Kyle Gray Young, Jim Foss and Bill Sustachek, to name a few.

A raffle and a silent auction are planned that include a guitar signed by country music legend and southern rock pioneer Charlie Daniels.

Doors open at 1 p.m. Tickets cost $8 and can be purchased at the door, in advance at Route 20 or online at www.rte20.com (additional service fee).
