RACINE — St. John's Lutheran School will hold the first 5K Spirit Run/Walk will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at North Beach Oasis, 100 Kewaunee St. Registration begins at 8 a.m.

The stroller-friendly race begins at the North Beach Oasis and goes along the bike path, behind the zoo, along Michigan Boulevard and then returns.

When runners/walkers designate a school they are participating for, that school will receive 20 percent of the event registration fee. The school with the most school spirit wins prizes. Once a school has more than 50 participants, they can pick their own color for T-shirts. Special awards and prizes will be given to the schools with the most and best school spirit during the race. Special awards will be given to the top three male and top three female winners. Every child ages 12 and younger will receive their own medal of accomplishment.

Runners/walkers will have their walk or run timed and receive a goody bag, free T-shirt, and door prizes. Music and refreshments will follow the race.

Registration costs are $25 for individuals, $40 for couples and $20 for children ages 12 and younger. Registration for teams of 10 and families cost $18 per person.
