Racine Symphony Orchestra

With the turning of the calendar to 2017, we have now reached the second half of our 85th anniversary season, and what a season it has been. The excitement continues as we present a momentous season finale concert.

Season finale

We close out this season of celebration with our Season Finale Masterworks Concert on Saturday, April 8, at 7:30 p.m. at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside’s Frances Bedford Concert Hall.

The special guest for this concert is the winner of our 2017 Young Artists’ Competition, Matthew Udry, who will perform his rendition of Dvorak’s “Cello Concerto in B minor, movement 1.” Also joining the orchestra on stage are other high school-age instrumental music students selected to participate in our Side-by-Side Youth Invitational.

After a week rehearsing with the orchestra, these student musicians will perform Haydn’s Symphony No. 94, “Surprise” alongside their musician mentors.

General admission tickets are $23 in advance and $25 at the door. As always, students 20 and younger receive free general admission.

Season footnotes

Keep an eye out — we will be announcing our 2017-18 Season dates and programs in late April.

Last, we would be remiss if we did not thank you — our patrons, donors, advertisers, corporate sponsors and granting agencies. Every time you support the orchestra you have and will continue to make our fabulous Pops and Masterworks concerts and array of ever-evolving music education programs possible.

We couldn’t have made it this long without you and look forward to another 85 years of “enriching, educating and entertaining our communities through the power of music.” THANK YOU.

Potawatomi Hotel & Casino’s Heart of Canal Street program is the primary sponsor of the Concert for Fifth Grade Students, held earlier this month.

Further support is provided by Educators Credit Union. The Side-by-Side Youth Invitational is supported by Woodman’s Markets.
