Season finale concert on April 26: “Old Clock, New Hands”

Join us in ushering out the Racine Symphony Orchestra’s 2013-14 Season on Sunday, April 26 at 7:30 p.m. at the Racine Theatre Guild, 2519 Northwestern Ave. Austin Budiono, winner of our 2014 Young Artists Competition, will perform an encore of Wieniawski’s “Violin Concerto No. 2 in D Minor.” Additional special guests will include regional high school students who, as part of our Side by Side Youth Invitational, will shadow an orchestra member during performance week. Students and orchestra members alike will perform “Haydn’s Symphony No. 101, The Clock.” General admission tickets are $23 in advance and $25 at the door; students 20 and younger are admitted free.

2014-15 season premiere set for June 27: “Honoring Our Past”

As the 70th anniversary of D-Day approaches, we salute our veterans from that, and every other era, with an evening of all-patriotic music. Made possible by the generous sharing of photos and stories by families and veterans themselves, we are putting together a slide show composed of pictures of regional veterans. As the orchestra performs patriotic favorites, enjoy the moving pictorial tribute to our heroes; some may even be present at the concert. Bob Benson, local actor and singer, returns to perform with the orchestra.

Doors to Festival Hall, 5 Fifth St., open at 5:30 p.m. for this 7 p.m. concert. General admission and table tickets for “Honoring Our Past” will be available for purchase after April 20. Reserved table seats are $32.50 each and general admission tickets are $23 each. Students 20 and younger will receive free general admission. Additionally, any active duty or reserve member of any of our nation’s armed forces, with a military I.D. or wearing their uniform, will also receive complimentary general admission, with our thanks for their service.
