WATERFORD — Waterford’s fourth annual Bark for Life fundraiser for the American Cancer Society took place April 22 at Waterford High School. This event honors the care giving qualities of pets and the comfort they give a person when they are ill. The research done by the American Cancer Society not only benefits humans but their canine companions as well.
Bark for Life had more than 150 participants with more than 100 dogs this year. Waterford High School students comprised the Bark for Life Committee with members of other clubs and organizations.
The 2018 Bark for Life initial totals reach more than $6,200. Money will also be collected for the American Cancer Society with a booth at the Union Grove Relay for Life to be held June 8 at the Racine County Fairgrounds.
The Bark for Life participants, both dog and human, walked through a 1/2-mile course. Activities followed the walk in the football field concessions area.
The 2019 Bark for Life will be held May 5.
