OSHKOSH — Rebecca M. Schroeder, 84, of Oshkosh, passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2018.
Rebecca was born in Racine to Louis and Margaret Vance on January 5, 1934. She went to high school in Racine and graduated 1952. While working on her teaching degree at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, she met the love of her life, her husband, Carl Schroeder. She loved her family, entertaining, golfing with her husband, gardening, playing bridge and baking. In addition, she enjoyed teaching at Lakeside Elementary School for most of her career.
Becky was loved by all who knew her and always treated others with love, empathy and respect.
Married for 62 years, she is survived by her husband, Carl; her two children Amy Schroeder (husband Dan Jaeger) and son, Vance Schroeder (wife Debbie Schroeder) and three grandchildren, Travus Henke, Casey and McKenzy Schroeder. Her sister Virginia Jensen preceded her in death and she is survived by her brother Thomas Vance in Racine (Wisconsin Veteran’s Home in Union Grove).
A memorial service will be held at Algoma Blvd. United Methodist Church on Saturday February 17, 2018 at 11:00 am. A visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow the service at 12 noon at the church.
The family will be forever grateful for the kind and caring staff at Evergreen Manor, especially Stacy, and the Medical Staff at Mercy Medical Center.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
