MESA, AZ—Emmett Karl Wenzel, age 83, passed away peacefully on March 26th at Hospice of the Valley in Gilbert, Arizona.
Emmett was born in Cadott, Wisconsin to Henry O. and Elsie H. Wenzel. After moving to Racine, Wisconsin in his youth, he graduated from Park High School in 1952. While serving in the U.S. Navy he married Donna Reichert on June 9, 1956. He was an employee of S.C. Johnson for 33 years, retiring in 1986.
Emmett lived in Mesa, Arizona for the past 27 years and was a summer resident of Logan, Utah for the past 12 years. A devout Catholic, he will always be remembered for his love of family, fishing, swimming, card playing, sports, and skillful hands.
His parents, brother Donald, sister Marilyn and great-grandson Henry preceded him in death.
Emmett is survived by Donna, his wife of 61 years, four children: Julie (John) Rallo, Mark (Lorrie) Wenzel, Dan (Martha) Wenzel and Mary (George) Hinkle; ten grandchildren: Katy (Steven) Harbert, Paul (Kara) Rallo, James Rallo, Therese (Brian) Aleinkoff, Rachel (Patrick) Bailey, Shelly (Phillip) Reimer, Michael Wenzel, Rebecca (Michael) Fiore, Christine Wenzel and Audra (Dylan) Langley; and three great-grandchildren: Emma, Noah and Davis Aleinkoff. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass will be held at All Saints Catholic Church in Mesa, Arizona on April 23rd, and interment will be at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to: St. Catherine’s High School – Emmett and Donna (Reichert ‘51) Wenzel Scholarship Fund or the charity of your choice.
