Mr. and Mrs. Roger Exner of 2910 Sharon Lane, Mount Pleasant, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary today during a coffee hour, hosted by their children, after the church service at Faithbridge Church.
Exner and the former Carol Anderson were married on May 11, 1968, in Franksville United Methodist Church, Franksville.
Exner served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1966.
He was a chemical processing operator at SC Johnson for 35 years, retiring in 2005; EMT/firefighter for Mount Pleasant Fire Department for 21 years, retiring in 1995; and grounds maintenance at Armstrong Park for four years, retiring in 2017.
Exner is a member of the Racine County Conservation League and volunteers at River Bend Nature Center. He has been president of the Franksville Methodist Men’s Club for many years and has served as a trustee, usher, Holy Communion server and on many committees over the years. Exner enjoys watching sports, and played golf and softball.
Mrs. Exner was administrative secretary at Community State Bank in Union Grove for nine years, retiring in 2007.
She is active at Faithbridge Church as an usher, Holy Communion server and as a member of the Caroline Circle. Mrs. Exner was the United Methodist Women’s secretary and treasurer. She enjoys baking, shopping and lunches with friends.
The couple were foster parents for pre-adoptive infants through Children’s Service Society for 12 years. They enjoy camping, traveling and attending their grandchildren’s activities.
The Exners have been members of Faithbridge Church (formerly Franksville United Methodist Church) for more than 50 years.
They have three children: Brian (Tanya) and Tanya Butler of Racine, and Katy Exner of Franksville. The couple has eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
