Mr. and Mrs. Harold R. Davitz of 5426 Barthel Road, Franksville, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary April 28 during an anniversary dinner for family at The Hideway Pub in Franklin on Saturday, April 28.
Davitz and the former Mary L. Penza were married on April 30, 1968, in Crown Point, Ind. Davitz was born and raised in Caledonia, and Mrs. Davitz was born and raised in Kenosha.
Davitz was a laborer for Burdick Construction for 27 years and a landscaper for Ray Hintz Inc. for 11 years, fully retiring in January of 2006. He was also a bartender for more than 40 years in the Caledonia and Franksville area.
Davitz, a retired Vietnam veteran, is past president and vice commander member of American Legion Post 494 in Caledonia. He enjoys tending his lawn, and vegetable and flower gardens. He is a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Oak Creek.
Mrs. Davitz was a licensed practical nurse for 35 years for Racine County at Ridgewood Care Center. She retired in December of 2002.
Mrs. Davitz is an active member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Caledonia. She is a past parish council member, reader and festival volunteer. Mrs. Davitz is secretary of the Racine County Tavern League, and a member and secretary/treasurer of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 494.
The couple has four children: Jeff of Franksville; Amy Castellion of Mayville; Jodi (Greg) Bankenbush of Lyndon Station; and James of Wind Lake. They have 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
