MOUNT PLEASANT — The Mount Pleasant Village Board voted Monday evening to award to Fond du Lac County-based Gueligs Waste Removal And Demolition the first two contracts to conduct initial demolition work at the future Foxconn Technology Group site.

The bid team is made up of four other Wisconsin-based companies including two based in Racine County.

Gueligs Waste Removal, based in Eden, was the lowest bidder for two bid packages totaling $378,300. All 20 bids received by the village were from Wisconsin companies.

Guelig’s subcontractors are: Krizan’s Well Drilling, based in Union Grove; PATS Services, Burlington; KPH Construction, Milwaukee; and Adam Salem Sand & Gravel, Salem. The latter business, a subsidiary of Adam Enterprises., is a certified women-owned business enterprise.

“We look forward to taking another major step in preparing for construction of Foxconn’s Wisconn Valley Science and Technology Park,” stated Claude Lois, project director for the Village of Mount Pleasant. “In keeping with our commitment to Wisconsin First, the awarded team includes five Wisconsin-based companies, as well as a women-owned enterprise.”

This initial demolition will focus on properties along Braun Road. The work is set to include razing and removing all structures, out-buildings, flatwork, driveway aprons, fill, filling all basements, crawl spaces and excavated areas with approved granular material; landscape restoration; traffic control as needed; and erosion control. The bid award involves demolition of 12 parcels related to Braun Road north in Mount Pleasant and 11 parcels related to Braun Road south.

The work is to help make way for Foxconn’s planned $10 billion, 22-million-square-foot manufacturing campus called Wisconn Valley Science and Technology Park.
