Mudry sets SEA records at state meet
Nathan Mudry had a great weekend for the South Eastern Aquatics Racine Family YMCA swim team.
Mudry, in the boys 13-14 age group, set four team records and had five top-five finishes last weekend at the Wisconsin 13-and-Older State Championships at the RecPlex in Pleasant Prairie. SEA scored 170 points to finish 30th among 51 teams.
Mudry’s best finish was second in the 1,000-yard freestyle, finishing in 10:20.04 to break Bailey Bleser’s record of 10:32.06 set in 2015.
Mudry also took third in the 500 freestyle (4:58.60), breaking the 16-year-old record of 4:59.63 set by J.J. Lipor in 2002, and in the 1,650 freestyle (17:31.08), breaking Bleser’s record of 17:31.36 in 2015.
Mudry was fifth in the 400 individual medley (4:30.63), breaking his own record of 4:30.66 from earlier this year, and in the 200 butterfly (2:07.64). He earned state qualifying times in the 500 freestyle and 200 butterfly.
Breaking her own record was Natalia Badillo in girls 13-14, finishing the 100 breaststroke in 1:09.93 to break her record of 1:10.50 from early last month. Megan Schultz earned a state qualifying time in the 100 breaststroke.
