Regan Cassidy picked up another piece of hardware for the Burlington Co-op gymnastics team from the WIAA State Gymnastics Championships Saturday.
Cassidy, who led the Demons to third place in Friday’s team competition, finished sixth on the uneven bars during the individual competition with a score of 9.3.
The sophomore, who attends Lake Geneva Badger High School, was the only medalist for the Demons.
If it wasn’t for trouble in the vault, her first event of the day, Cassidy would have been close to the podium in the all-around. Cassidy scored just 8.433 on vault, placing 23rd.
Cassidy came back strong on the bars, her second event, getting a 9.35 from the second judge and scoring a 9.3 for sixth.
Cassidy followed with a 9.183 and a ninth-place finish on the balance beam. Her Burlington Co-op teammate Malia Bronson, a Williams Bay High School freshman, was 19th on beam with 8.7.
Cassidy scored 9.083 on floor exercise, the only event in which she did not qualify for state, and ended up with an all-around total of 36.0 to finish 15th.
Cassidy and Bronson are Burlington Co-op’s first individual qualifiers since 2015.
- Hartland Arrowhead junior Alexis Woida, who finished no better than third in the individual events, won the all-around title with a score of 37.767. Brookfield East/Central senior Lexi Romero was second with 37.417 and freshman Maggie Losch of Kenosha Combined was third with 37.283.
