The Park High School girls basketball team couldn’t get untracked Tuesday night.
Oak Creek might have had something to do with it.
The Panthers managed only four points in the first quarter and never could catch up in losing to Oak Creek 76-34 in a Southeast Conference game at Park.
“They’re the top team in our conference and they proved it to us tonight,” Park coach Jeff Tarkowski said. “We just have to regroup and get back to work and get better.”
Oak Creek (14-1, 8-0 SEC) outscored Park 19-4 in the first period and moved to a 38-13 lead at halftime. The Knights, who are ranked second in Division 1 in the Associated Press state poll, then outscored the Panthers 23-14 in the third quarter to virtually settle the issue.
Tarkowski praised the play of senior guard Janelle Scales, who led the Panthers with 13 points.
“She played hard,” Tarkowski said.
