The Burlington High School girls volleyball team, which won its third Division 1 title in nine appearances in the WIAA State Girls Volleyball Tournament Saturday, dominated the Division 1 selections on the Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association All-State Tournament Teams.

Sophomore setter Kaley Blake and senior outside hitters Abby Koenen and Brooklyn VandeHei were named to the 11-player Division 1 team. Blake led the Demons with 129 assists in the tournament and also had 28 digs in the three matches. Koenen had a team-high 56 kills and had 33 digs and VandeHei had 35 kills and 30 digs.

River Falls, which lost to Burlington in the championship match Saturday, was the only other team with multiple selections in Division 1. Senior setter Izzy Barr and senior middle hitter Marissa Stockman were named to the team.

Rounding out the Division 1 team were Divine Savior Holy Angels senior middle hitter Haley Multerer, Oconomowoc senior outside hitter Katy Kluge, Greendale senior middle hitter Annie Pulizos, Kimberly junior outside hitter Maggie Cartwright, Mukwonago senior setter Mackenzie Vertz and Waunakee sophomore outside hitter Milla Malik.

Girls swimming/diving

STATE MEET: There are three additional Racine County entries to qualify for the WIAA Division 1 State Swimming and Diving Championships from Saturday’s Greenfield Sectional.

In addition to automatic qualifiers McKenzie Sanchez of Case in diving and Morgan Dietzel of Burlington Co-op in the 100-yard backstroke, qualifiers were Horlick junior Amaya Jerdee in diving and Burlington Co-op seniors Jenna Hotvedt in the 500 freestyle and Morgan Traughber in the 100 backstroke. Jerdee was fourth in diving with a score of 410.95. Hotvedt was second with a time of 5:18.01 in the 500 freestyle and Traughber was third in the backstroke in 59.30. Dietzel and Sanchez won their events.

Case diving coach Dave Arvai is a diving judge for the state meet.
