Wednesday was national signing day for high school basketball players and senior athletes from other sports, and these Racine County players signed or were expected to sign their National Letters of Intent with their chosen colleges.
Leading the list of signees was Prairie School senior JC Butler, an Associated Press first-team All-State player, who made it official with NCAA Division I University of California-Irvine.
Two of his senior basketball teammates joined him at the signing table, with Logan Krekling signing with St. Norbert and Troy Mikaelian signing with Lawrence, both NCAA Division III programs.
Signing to play tennis was Prairie’s Haley Jones, who will attend Division III Concordia in Mequon.
Union Grove had six athletes sign NLIs, three in basketball and three in other sports. Basketball players, who all signed with Division III schools, were Jack Pettit with St. Norbert, Riley Hale with Concordia-Chicago and Brooklyn Bull with UW-Oshkosh.
Football players signing were Jacob Ross with St. Norbert and Devin Shibilski with Concordia (Mequon), and cross country runner Abby Martin signed with Division II Michigan Tech.
Burlington basketball player Brock Halbach signed with Rock Valley College, a junior college in Rockford, Ill.
