The UW-Parkside men’s and women’s soccer teams traveled to Kansas City, Mo., for Great Lakes Valley Conference matches against Rockhurst Sunday, and both teams lost by the same score, 1-0.

In the men’s match, Umoh Ufot scored the only goal of the match at 49:59 of the match for Rockhurst (3-0-1, 2-0 GLVC). The Rangers (0-4, 0-2) were outshot 21-4, with just one shot on goal. Parkside goalkeeper Nate Kitchell made four saves.

In the women’s match, Stephanie Ostrander scored at 26:38 for Rockhurst (4-0, 2-0 GLVC). Goalkeeper Adrianna Bratel kept Parkside (1-4, 0-2) in the match with 13 saves, but the Rangers had just six shots (three on goal).

CARTHAGE: Senior nickel back Shawntrel Garner was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Defensive Player of the Week.

Garner had nine tackles (seven solo, five for loss), one sack and an 84-yard interception return Saturday to help the Red Men beat Bethel (Minn.) 31-0.
