Nico Mueller got his second-straight game-winning goal Sunday in leading Lewis University to a 1-0 double-overtime victory over UW-Parkside in a Great Lakes Valley Conference men’s soccer match at Romeoville, Ill.

In the 104th minute, Mueller took a pass from Timm Adler at the 30-yard line, drove past the defender and beat goalie Nate Kitchell for his sixth goal of the season.

The victory was the sixth straight for Lewis (9-3 overall, 8-2 GLVC).

Lewis outshot Parkside (3-7-1, 3-5-1 GLVC) 21-12, including 8-1 in the overtime periods. Kitchell made nine saves in goal before Mueller’s game-winner.

Philip Huang earned his fourth shutout of the season for Lewis, making four saves.

Women’s soccer

PARKSIDE: Kailey Parnello scored at 68:54 off an assist by Mallory Richardson and Lewis beat Parkside 1-0 in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match at Romeoville, Ill., Sunday afternoon.

Lewis (5-5-2, 4-4-2 GLVC) outshot Parkside (2-9-1, 1-7-1 GLVC) 14-10. Adrianna Bratel had four saves in goal for Parkside.

Women’s volleyball

PARKSIDE: Lexi Turek had 12 kills and two aces and former Horlick High School standout Katie Adams had 33 assists in leading UW-Parkside to a 27-25, 25-17, 25-17 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory over Missouri-S&T Saturday at Parkside.

Annie Leo led the Rangers (8-8, 6-2 GLVC) defensively with 18 digs. Lexie Calloway had nine kills and 13 digs.

Carlie Combs led Missouri S&T (5-13, 1-8 GLVC) with 10 kills.
