WAUKESHA – The Carthage College men's basketball team lost for the second time in three games Tuesday night and falling to Carroll 73-69 in a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin game at Waukesha.
After Carthage took a 34-28 halftime lead, Carroll (9-12, 5-7 CCIW) swung the momentum in its favor. Carroll shot 61.9 percent from the field, connecting on 13-21 attempts, and hit three of their six 3-point attempts in the second half.
Carthage (12-9, 7-5 CCIW) was 37.9 percent from the floor and had eight turnovers over the final 20 minutes.
The Red Men had a pair of good 3-point looks with just over a minute left, trailing by four, but neither fell and Carroll was able to extend its lead at the free-throw line to six 65-59. Carroll went 6 for 8 from the field and 13 for 15 from the free-throw line over the final 7:13.
Jordan Thomas followed up his 40-point performance last weekend by leading the Red Men in scoring with a game-high 21 points. Kienan Baltimore scored 14 second-half points to give him 17 in the game and Brad Perry finished with 12 points and nine rebounds.
CARTHAGE: Herman Abban was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Player of the Week Wednesday. The senior from Accra, Ghana went 3-1 to open the spring season last weekend.
