Evan Walsh had a match-high 12 kills in 21 attempts with a .429 hitting percentage to lead the third-ranked Carthage College men’s volleyball team to a 25-23, 25-15, 25-15 victory over Lakeland University Friday night in the Woltzen Gymnasium in Plymouth.

Braden Waumans added eight kills and Zach Lillig had seven kills and a .583 hitting percentage for the Red Men (8-0), ranked third among NCAA Division III teams in the most recent American Volleyball Coaches Association poll.

Carthage hit .291 as a team (36 kills, 13 errors, 79 kill attempts) compared to Lakeland’s .077 hitting percentage (21 kills, 15 errors, 78 kill attempts).

Matt Reinsel had a match-high 32 assists and Walsh had a match-high nine digs for the Red Men.

Dakota Hunter led Lakeland (1-5) with eight kills.

Men’s basketball

MILWAUKEE 76, GREEN BAY 58: Bryce Nze had a career-high 25 points on 11 for 14 shooting to go with 10 rebounds and Milwaukee beat Green Bay in a Horizon League game at Milwaukee.

Carson Warren-Newsome added 12 points and Jeremiah Bell scored 11 for the Panthers (13-13, 6-7 Horizon League).

Milwaukee led by double digits for the second half except when the Phoenix (10-16, 5-8) trailed 34-25 on Khalil Small’s jumper in the first minute of the period.

Manny Patterson had 13 points and Small scored 10 for Green Bay. The Phoenix committed 20 turnovers and were outrebounded 38-29.
