The UW-Parkside women’s basketball team got its first victory of the season Thursday, rallying from an 11-point halftime deficit to beat Trinity Christian College of Chicago 65-59 in a nonconference game in the DeSimone Gymnasium on the Parkside campus in Somers.
The Rangers (1-5) trailed 36-25 at halftime, but were able to get to the free-throw line 22 times in the second half, making 16. They went 11 for 14 in the fourth quarter as they outscored the Trolls 40-23 in the second half.
Hayley Maystead had her second straight double-double, scoring 11 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Ali Bettencourt led Parkside with 14 points and Asiah Lawson had 10. Carolina Rahkonen also had 10 rebounds as the Rangers outrebounded Trinity 55-32.
Celina Wanta and Lauren Stokes each had 15 points to lead the Trolls (2-4).
