The Butler Elite of Racine boys basketball team had a tight game Tuesday at the AAU Seventh Grade Division 1 National Championships, but a trio of high scorers helped pave the way to a 71-69 victory over Team Rens of Harlem, N.Y. at Memphis, Tenn.

Butler Elite, sponsored by Racine native and NBA All-Star Caron Butler, was led by Matt Brown, who scored 22 points for the second straight day and also had eight rebounds. The team also had big performances by Demonta Hudson (18 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, 7 for 7 free throws), Larry Canady (11 points, 10 rebounds) and Marquise Milton (team-high 11 assists and eight steals).

Butler Elite, which is 2-0 in pool play, concludes pool play Wednesday with a game against the Memphis Wings.
