The Racine Kiwanis had 14 hits and scored all of their runs in the first three innings Monday in an 11-1 victory over the West Allis Nighthawks in a five-inning Land O’ Lakes League game at Horlick Field.
The Kiwanis (2-4, 2-1 LOL) scored six runs in the second inning, all after two outs, and Nathan Simon’s double started the parade of six hits. Jason Kezman had two RBIs in the inning and Sam Azarian, Mike Aiello and Bobby Appleton had one each. One run scored on a wild pitch.
Azarian had a strong night, going 3 for 3 with a double and three RBIs, one in each of the first three innings. Jake Ryder went 2 for 3 with three RBIs and Ryan Ruediger went 2 for 3.
Pitcher Luke Mason (1-0) pitched a four-hitter, striking out five and walking two.
The game was the makeup of the first game of a doubleheader that was rained out June 2. The second makeup game is July 18.
