I am writing in support of Rebecca Mason for municipal judge. Because Rebecca has been in this position since 2016 she has been able to prove her competency. She has also already made significant contributions to improve the functioning and outcomes of the court.
She led a promotion of technology usage which has improved efficiency of the court. She is also in the midst of leading a new approach to truancy cases that will improve graduation rates and the lives of our young people. It would be prudent for us to elect Ms. Mason to remain in her position so she can continue the forward momentum she has created that is making a positive difference for our city and citizens.
It has been stated by her opponent that there is a conflict of interest because her husband has been elected to be our mayor. Since he was elected mayor while Rebecca Mason was already serving as our municipal judge the voters have demonstrated that they do not share his concern.
A review of the duties of this post (largely ruling on traffic, parking, and truancy violations) also fail to reveal a cause for concern.
The Mason family has repeatedly demonstrated public service as a strong family value and we are lucky they are willing to devote their considerable time and talents to serve us. I urge you to vote for Rebecca Mason on April 3rd so she can continue her skillful service to our community.
